Also, known as the tonic to emperors in Traditional Chinese Medicine this polypore was highly guarded and was only used for royalty. As a tea or tonic, it has many benefits for boosting the immune system, lowers blood pressure, reduces allergy reactions, and may help prevent cancer.
Reishi Mushroom also can be used in dishes requiring mushrooms however, the dried slices need soaking for a few hours before adding to soups, stews, and stir fry.
